Pererindod Afon Teifi – Afan Teifi Pilgrimage

The Afon Teifi is the longest river entirely in Wales. Her source is in the moorlands of the Cambrian Mountains and she flows through the border of Ceredigion passing many beautiful rural villages before entering Cardigan Bay. She has provided the practical and cultural sustenance of the communities in this area for thousands of years. In recent times she has been neglected and poisoned. The Afon Teifi Pigrimage offers us a chance to make a spiritual reconnection with the Spirit of Teifi, we will be connecting with the many excellent groups engaged in action to preserve and improve her health and environmental quality.

We will walk the length of the Teifi from source to sea in homage to the river. At her source in Llyn Teifi, we will collect as sacred ritual an amount of her water. We will carry this the 83 mile length over the next 8 days performing simple rituals on her bank each day. When we reach the coast at Popppit Sands, we will offer her water to the sea in gratitude.

Our pilgrimage will begin on Sunday 13th June 2027 and conclude on Sunday 20th, this giving us opportunity to also mark the summer solstice.

Each day we will walk about 10 miles folllwing the route of the recently published Teifi Valley Trail.  The day routes will be of moderate difficulty.

We are looking for supporters in the following 3 areas:-

1- People to join part or all of the pilgrimage.

2- People to help with the organisation including identifying places to stay overnight and food.

3- People to plan and lead inclusive rituals on each of the 8 days.

If you’d like to help with any of these, or to just be informed of developing plans, please reach out to me.

Blessed Be,

Dai Nyth Bran – June 2026
